Tibet – The Roof of the Word

The elemental beauty of the highest plateau on
earth, views illuminated with spectacular mountain light,
glittering turquoise lakes, yaks and nomad’s tent, high
passes draped with colorful prayer flags, spirituality of
holy mount Kailash, land bejeweled with lamas, native
land of Dalai Lama, mysteries architectural magnificence
of Patala Palace, is fascinating, inspiring, and endlessly
photogenic destination.

It is the traditional homeland of Tibetan people and was enjoying suzerainty of Mongols and later Chinese rulers with enough autonomy given to Tibetan leaders till 1950 when Tibet was incorporated in People’s Republic of China. In 1959 during the Tibetan Rebellion , the political and spiritual leader, 14th Dalai Lama fled to India and settled the capital of Tibet in exile in Dharamshala in India.
