Know All about India Before Your Luxury Travel

India is a country of vivid cultures yet one common thread runs all through the country that is – Guest First which extends an ease of travel to this beautiful country.

Though it is very easy and comfortable to travel in India, It is advisable to travel through your travel agency as than you always have some one at your side 24 x 7.

Below are some travel tips good to know before you leave from your home for an ever memorable trip to India.

Best Time to Travel

Indian weather is extremely varied across the country. When one part of the country is having unbearable heat, other parts like hill stations of North India become paradise for travelers.

In general, 15th September to 15th April is a good time to travel to India. In between these months, October to March is the best time when weather is more likely to be warm, sunny, and dry. During these months, India celebrates maximum number of festivals as well. This is also the high tourist season in India. 22nd December to 05th January when North India is fairly cold with foggy mornings & evenings, is the peak tourist time.

Months of May & June are usually the summer season in the entre country. These are the months when International tourists head to hilly regions of  Kashmir & Ladakh. July & August are the monsoon time when entire country receives maximum rains which makes the climate humid and sweating.

First half of April & September are the days which fall in shoulder season of tourism business in India. These days are neither too hot nor too cold, no rains and no humidity.

Visa to India

All foreign nationals (except nationals of Nepal & Bhutan) entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport with a valid visa from an Indian Mission/Post in their home country or e-Visa. 

Foreign nationals of 166 countries are eligible for apply of e-Visa and can apply between 120 days to 4 days in advance from the proposed date of arrival in India. Nationals of countries listed on the e-Visa website https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa are eligible to apply for e-Visa Services.

One can apply for e-Tourist visas and e-Business visas for validity from 3o days and up to 05 years from the date of grant of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), subject to limitations on the length of continuous stay. Multiple entries are permitted. Normally, it takes around 72 hours to process the e-visa. Once processed, traveler will receive an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) on registered email address. It is always advisable to carry a print-out of the ETA when you arrive at any of the port of entry in India.

Travel Insurance - Stress Free Travel

 A Travel Insurance which also include medical insurance for your travel gives you peace of mind. It is always advisable to to purchase an adequate travel insurance cover before you start your journey to cover from unforeseen losses incurred while travelling.

Though the rate of cancellation of domestic flights in India is very low ( overall as low as 3.8% in year 2020 ), a flight cancellation may effect the re-routing of your travel program or even to purchase a more expensive new ticket on the same date of travel between same cities but may be with another airlines. These kind of unforeseen cancellation will be well covered by you travel insurance.

It is always advisable to include your medical insurance as well as a part of your travel insurance. In case of any illness, all major hospitals honour the medical insurances purchased by you in your country.

Currency, Foreign Exchange and Credit Cards

Rupee is the Indian currency and is available in denomination of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 & 1000 rupee bills. Foreign currency of most of the country can be exchanged across country very easily at foreign exchange bureau, banks, airports and hotels. Usually more recognised international currencies like US Dollars, British Pounds, Euro, Australian Dollars, Kroners etc can be exchanged much easily. Though Conversion rates can be checked at www.xe.com but usually, foreign exchange bureaus, banks and hotels offer 2-3% less exchange rate as they also earn commission on exchange.

Indian currency in cash using International credit / debit card can also be withdrawn from ATMs (cash machines) available more or less at every street in the country. International Credit / Debit cards like Visa, Master Card, American Express are widely accepted at restaurants, shops and hotels.

Preparing Your Bags

Though there is no pre-assumed dress code in India but being the land of many religions, faiths and beliefs, It is always advisable to include some dresses which covers your full legs and arms. During your luxury journey to India, you shall also be visiting many temples, mosques and mausoleums where it is mandatory to take off the shoes and cover your head with a scarf. So pack some show covers (though as soon as you arrive, we shall be providing you the same ) and scarf.

If you have a safari in the national parks of India or hiking/trekking,  do not forget to carry your walking / flat sole shoes. India is incomplete with-out riding an elephant / camel. During your ride, it is advisable to wear full length Jeans to prevent scratchy skin.

Also do not forget to carry your sun glasses and creams/lotions to avoid sun-burns.

Important : Most of the domestic airlines in India allow One Pc of check-in baggage up to 15 kgs + 01 Cabin bag of up to 7 kgs + 01 Laptop bag / Ladies bag in economy class. In business class, passenger can carry up to 2 pcs of check-in baggage of 30 kgs in total + 01 cabin bag of up to 10 kgs + 01 laptop bag / ladies bag.
