Kanha National Park is one of the tiger reserves in India is the largest national park in Central India. Famous for its high density of Royal Bengal Tigers along with other wild animals, Kanha National Park was among the many behind the famous story of  The Jungle Book’s Mowgli – a man-cub raised in jungles of India. The forests of Kanha National Park along with other national parks like Bandhavgarh and Pench are the grounds for the stories of Rudyard Kipling.

The park hosts high density of population of Royal Bengal Tigers along with Leopards, Sloth Bear & Barasingha deers living in their natural habitat. The lush green forests of Kanha, composed majorly of Sal (Shorea Robusta) and other mixed forest trees, supports the growth of rich and varied flora and fauna.

Safari by a private jeep with your own naturalist and jeep driver is always the best way to spot a tiger and other wildlife. Marks of the pugmarks or listening the natural calls by other animals are often well acknowledged by experienced naturalists and drivers.

Kanha National park is divided in 4 core zones and 4 buffer zones. Best opportunities for spotting a tiger is considered to be in one of the four core zones namely – Kanha, Kisli, Mukki and Sarhi. Game drives by private jeeps and sharing vehicles are conducted & booked by forest department twice a day – early morning and late afternoon. There are specific numbers of vehicles allowed in each zone so it is always advisable to book safaris as much as in advance as possible.

All four core zones of Kanha National park are open from 16th October to 15th April while other four buffer zones are open from 16th October to 15th June. However, best time to visit the park is from October to March when wild animals step-out from their hideouts and stays for longer time in Sun.

Nearest airport to Kanha National Park is Nagpur airport which is well connected from all major cities of India. Other airports convenient to connect to Kanha are Jabalpur and Raipur. Kanha National Park along with national parks of Bandhavgarh & Pench make a complete circuit for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.
