Thimphu is the most modern and the capital city of the Kingdom of Bhutan is located in a valley in the northwest of the country. Thimphu reflects the culture of Bhutan with respect to religion, customs, national dress code, the monastic practices of the monasteries, music, dance, and literature. Besides being the seat of government, the city is known for its Buddhist temples. The Tashichho Dzong is a huge fortified monastery and a government palace with golden leaf roofs.
Tashichho Dzong is a Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city of Thimphu in Bhutan, on the western bank of the Wang Chu River. It’s a huge majestic structure surrounded by beautiful gardens and well-kept lawns. There are thirty temples, chapels, and shrines within. This fortress is used as an office for his majesty and other government officials.
Another important site worth visiting is Buddha Dordenma Statue which is one of the largest statues of Buddha. Set in a large meditation hall, the statue is made of bronze and gilded in Gold. It is said to emanate an aura of peace and happiness to the entire world.
