Day 3

Drive from Delhi to Agra (225 Kms/06 Hours) en-route visiting Akshardham Temple

After breakfast, Drive to Agra en route visiting Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, a unique example of 10,000 years of Indian culture in all its breathtaking grandeur, beauty, wisdom, and bliss. Arrive in Agra and after check-in at your hotel, visit the Tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daullah or Baby Taj constructed in white marble is a jewellery box-shaped building and is the first building constructed in white marble. Check in at your hotel and later visit Agra Fort.

Day 4

Agra-Fatehpur Sikri- Jaipur ( 250 Kms / 6 Hours )

Wake up early to visit the most beautiful architectural marvel in white marble – the Taj Mahal at sunrise which is quite simply one of mankind’s most remarkable creations. Sunrise is a beautiful time to view the mausoleum and its quietest hour. Pay attention to the exquisite ornamentation with pearls and precious gemstones inlaid in the white marble. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is often referred to as Romance in White Marble. Return to the hotel by Tonga (horse cart).

Post breakfast, drive to the capital city of Jaipur also known as the Pink City. En route visit Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which houses many fairy-tale palaces and royal pavilions.

Day 5

Jaipur

After breakfast at your hotel, drive to Amber Fort on top of a hill at the outskirts of Jaipur. This 16th-century majestic fort was the capital of Rajputs till 1727 AD when the capital was shifted to Jaipur. Amer Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has many palaces with beautiful paintings, squares, and terraces with balconies. The best way to reach Amer Fort is on the back of an elephant.

Visit City Palace built in 1727 AD by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh as a residence for the royal family members. The palace complex today has several buildings, courtyards, and a museum. Exquisite carpets, bright Rajput weapons, and delicate clothes, ornamented palanquins will remind you of the grandeur of this princely era of India. Adjoining to City Palace is Observatory Or Jantar Mantar which is the largest stone astronomical observatory in the world and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

During your visits to Jaipur city, you shall also be passing through the Palace of Winds or Hawa Mahal constructed in 1799 with 953 small windows, called Jharokas, decorated by intricate latticework (jali or screen). Walk through the colourful buzzing markets of Jaipur before attending a private Cooking Class in an old heveli where the ladies of the house will help you learn the recipes of Indian food. You will also enjoy the dinner cooked by you.

Day 6

Jaipur – Delhi (275 Kms /06 Hours)

After breakfast, visit Galtaji also known as Monkey Temple built in the 15th century before driving to New Delhi. Check-in and overnight at your hotel near Delhi airport.

Day 7

Delhi – Leh – Ule (Flight + Drive of 1.5 Hours)

Early morning with a packed breakfast, transfer to the domestic terminal of Delhi airport for a picturesque flight to Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Arrive Leh airport ( 3500 meters ) and drive to a small village, Uletokpo, west of Leh city. The drive is through the hilly region of Ladakh and will take around 1.5 Hours. Check-in at your hotel. The rest of the day shall be free to acclimatize.

Day 8

Lamayuru – Alchi

After breakfast at your hotel, you will drive around 50 km west to your hotel to visit the ancient monastery at Lamayuru village also known as Moonland. Lalamayuru monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in the region and was built in the 11th century. A large statue of Avilokteshwar is the highlight of the monastery. Return to your hotel for lunch. Post lunch, visit Alchi monastery, 30 km east of your hotel in the direction of Leh city. The temples of different manifestations of Buddha including Manjushri are centuries old. Paintings on the walls of Alchi monastery are still well preserved and are worth admiring.

Both the monasteries are home to around 100 Buddhist monks.

Day 9

Uletopko – Likir – Leh

After breakfast at your hotel, today you will drive to Leh city en route visiting Likir Monastery and a stop at the Confluence of two major rivers of the Ladakh region – Indus and Zanskar rivers.

Arrive Leh and check-in at your hotel. Later after lunch, visit Leh Palace followed by a visit to Shanti Stupa at sun set. While coming back to hotel, stroll around the Leh market.

Day 10

Leh – Hemis – Takthok

After breakfast, drive for around 1.5 hours from Leh city to Takthaok monastery atop a hill in Shakti Village. As per the legends, Guru Padmasambhava did meditation for three years in the cave at Takthok monastery. This monastery is the only monastery belonging to the Red Hat sect of Tibetan Buddhism.

Later after lunch at a local restaurant enjoying local delicacies like Tupka soup and momos, visit the most important monastery at Hemis village around 15 kms from Leh city. Hemis monastery is the richest monastery in the region and houses a rich collection of Tibetan artifacts.

Return to your hotel and later in the evening, witness the Tibetan traditions of Oracle in which the performer invites the guardian deities of Tibetan Buddhism on him/her and predicts your life.

Day 11

Leh – Thiksey and Flight from Leh to Delhi-Home

Today your day will start early as you visit Thiksey Monastery, 19 km out of Leh City. Buddhist lamas play traditional musical instruments as a wake-up call to other lamas staying in and around the monastery. Perform mediation at the main assembly hall of the Thiksey monastery while Buddhist monks perform their morning prayers. Visit the temple of Maitreya Buddha and Mahakal before returning to your hotel for breakfast.

Later around 11;00 AM, you will be transferred to Leh airport for a flight back to Delhi.

Arrive in Delhi and either continue exploring more of India or take an international flight back home.
