Pokhra is the gateway to the best trekking trails in the world. Annapurna Ghorepani Poonhill Trail in Annapurna Sanctuary is a medium altitude trek from Pokhara ( 800 meters ) reaching a maximum altitude of 3210 meters at Poon Hill in 3 nights / 4 days trek.
The Poon Hill trek is one of the easiest routes in the Annapurna Sanctuary which explains its growing popularity. It’s a great route to walk for inexperienced hikers and for those who want to get a taste of trekking in Nepal. The trek can be done in 3 or 4 days. The route is well-marked, and there are many guesthouses and restaurants on the way.

Day 1
Drive Pokhara to Nayapul ( 1070 m ) and Trek Nayapul – Ulleri ( 1960 m ) – 12 kms / 4.5 Hours
At 8:30 AM, your guide will meet and greet you at your hotel in Pokhara. From here, your trip will begin with a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Nayapul ( 1070 meters ).From here, you will trek to Ulleri ( 1960 Meters )for approximately 4.5 hours before arriving around lunch time at your mountain lodge.
The trail from Nayapul to Ulleri is well-marked and passes through beautiful forests, charming villages, and scenic landscapes. The first part of the trek ( approx 9 km) involves a gradual ascent, passing through small villages and terraced fields, before entering a dense forest of rhododendron trees and climbing a series of steep stone steps reaching the larger Magar village of Ulleri at 1960 meters, where you can take a break for the first night.

Day 2
Trek from Ulleri( 1960 m )- Ghorepani( 2850 m )- 8 kms/4 hours
After your breakfast at your mountain lodge at Ulleri, your trail continues to climb through a dense forest, passing through the villages of Banthanti (2250 m) and Nangethanti ( 2450 m ), before reaching Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a beautiful village located at an altitude of around 2,850 meters and is known for its stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

Day 3
Trek Ghorepani – Poon Hill Top – Ghorepani – Tadapani ( 2610 m )
At 4:00 AM, you will begin an early morning trek of 45 minutes to reach the top of Poon Hill (3,210 meters above sea level). A series of steep stone stairs from Ghorepani will take you to the Poon Hill Top which is the highest point of the Poon Hill Trek in the Annapurna Mountain region.

Once at the top, trekkers can enjoy breathtaking views of the sunrise over the mountains, with peaks such as Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Mardi Himal, and Machhapuchhre (also known as “ Mount Fishtail”) visible in the distance.The views are particularly stunning during the autumn and spring seasons when the skies are clear and the weather is favorable.
There are also a few tea houses and small shops located at the top of Poon Hill, where you can rest, have a warm drink, and take in the scenery before beginning the descent back to Ghorepani Mountain Lodge for breakfast.
Post your breakfast, you will start a downward trek for about 10 km / 4 hours to Tadapani Village at 2610 meters above sea level. Here you will spend a night at a Mountain Lodge.

Day 4
Trek Tadapani ( 2610 m ) – Ghandruk ( 1950 M) – Nayapul ( 1050 m ) – Drive to Pokhara
After breakfast at your lodge, Trek for about 3 hours to Ghandruk Village. you can explore the Gurung Museum, familiarize yourself with the town, and interact with the locals. Post lunch, you will then continue soft trekking to Nayapul. From Nayapul, you’ll take a private car for 1.5 hours back to Pokhara. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you will be dropped off at your hotel or Pokhara airport for an onward flight to Kathmandu / Chitwan.
